COSMOSFLOWORKS FEATURES

Unlike other computational fluid dynamics programs, COSMOSFloWorks combines a high level of functionality and accuracy with ease-of-use.
Fully embedded inside of SolidWorks, COSMOSFloWorks is perfect for the engineer who needs flow analysis, but is not necessarily an expert in the field of fluid simulation. A goal-oriented approach allows you to easily gain insight into the performance of your design under real word conditions.
COSMOSFloWorks can be used in a diverse array of applications and has been designed to be extremely flexible. Whether you are developing an automobile, the wing of an airplane, or an exhaust valve, using COSMOSFloWorks in the product development cycle can help you build a better product in less time.
Design New and Innovative Products
 |
Thermostat: COSMOSFloWorks can now model thermostats and relate the heat source to the temperature at any location in the model. |
Orthotropic Material: COSMOSFloWorks can now consider different thermal conductivity in different directions. Users can
input different values of conductivity in x, y and z directions.
Fully Developed Flow for Rectangular Cross Section: COSMOSFloWorks now allows users to have a fully developed flow at the inlet if the cross section of the inlet is rectangular. In previous version this option was available for circular cross section inlets.
Focus on Product Design, Not Design Tools
 |
Cavitation Model: COSMOSFloWorks can now model thermostats and relate the heat source to the temperature at any location in the model. |
Relative Humidity Calculation: COSMOSFloWorks can now calculate the relative humidity distribution in the flow model. Users can track the moisture distribution in the entire flow
domain.
New Units for Pressure and Volume Flow Rate: COSMOSFloWorks users can now input or visualize pressures in millibars (mb). Similarly volume flow rates can be given in liter per hour.
Property Manager Style for Dialog Boxes: COSMOSFloWorks now employs a Property Manager user interface for boundary conditions and other dialog boxes.
Improved Mesh Control: COSMOSFloWorks users can specify the number of cells they want between 2 control planes. In addition, it is possible to define several control planes in a single user friendly dialog box.
XY Plot Along Edge: COSMOSFloWorks now allows users to create XY plot along existing SolidWorks edges.
COSMOSFloWorks Animator: COSMOSFloWorks can create very high quality result animations. Animation improvements include camera movements, sequential animations, and moving arrows in cut plots and cut plots with animated trajectories.
Be the First to Exploit Innovative Design Tools
 |
New Meshing Technology To Solve Thin Geometry Models: COSMOSFloWorks now utilizes proprietary new meshing technology to solve problems involving thin geometry very efficiently and quickly. |
Thermo Electric Cooler (TEC): COSMOSFloWorks users can now simulate a complex heat sink with a TEC using this new feature. The complex heat sink model is replaced with simple box geometry which takes into account all the properties of TEC.
64-Bit Platform Support: COSMOSFloWorks will make use of native 64-bit platform to perform large flow and heat transfer
calculations.
COSMOSFloWorks provides the following benefits:
Complete Integration with SolidWorks
COSMOSFloWorks is fully embedded within the SolidWorks Windows®-native environment. There is no need to modify your SolidWorks designs for fluid flow and heat transfer analysis.
Configuration based analysis
Each COSMOSFloWorks analysis is tied to a SolidWorks configuration thereby making it easy to analyze design variants and do “What-If” scenarios.
Fully automatic and innovative meshing technology
COSMOSFloWorks can automatically capture the geometry and resolve it to accurately compute the boundary layer. This technology handles very thin geometry well and results in a significant reduction in the number of computational cells. Simulations which take several hours for traditional CFD programs can be solved in fraction of the time.
Wizard mode for analysis setup
COSMOSFloWorks uses a wizard interface to setup the analysis thereby making it easy and intuitive to solve the problem. The toolbars and dialog boxes are very similar to SolidWorks interface thereby making the experience of using COSMOSFloWorks very similar to SolidWorks.
Engineering goal based analysis
COSMOSFloWorks is a goal based CFD analysis program. You simply tell the program what you are interested in like Max temperature in part A, Max velocity in my flow, Flow rate at opening 1, Pressure drop across my model etc… and it will calculate these goals and present to the user after the completion of the analysis. This functionality helps you to get better engineering insight into your designs.
Expanded CFD analysis capability
COSMOSFloWorks can solve a wide range of problems including conjugate heat transfer, subsonic, supersonic and compressible flows, mixing of gases, flow around rotating geometry, porous media, cavitation prediction, humidity and climate control and fluid structure interaction.
